More fun in KL

the last few days have passed in a flurry of performing, eating, drinking, shopping and partying, although only one of us got into a fight at a seedy bar and that one was not me, thank goodness. many martinis of all sorts have been consumed, as well as various other cocktails, and a small amount of beer. it *is* very hot after all.

the play has gone very very well, and everyone has been pleased. we got a lovely review in The Star, which was also gratifying for all and helped sell even more tickets, although the word of mouth had been doing the trick very nicely. quite a large number of people came twice. for example, there was a brother and sister who were about 14 and 17 years old and they came one night and then came back the next night and brought their mother. that was lovely, as was the older gentleman who insisted on hugging me after the show. he was very moved. each show had its own flavour, as usual, and in the last few shows Grace appeared to be verging on innocent, whereas early on in the run she was very, very guilty. much to the delight of the audience!

on Saturday, Laurence and I explored Chinatown and were lucky enough to go inside a few temples, including one to the goddess of mercy, which was fabulous, and yesterday we went to the Batu Caves in the morning which are incredibly beautiful and peaceful and really very wonderful. there is that fabulous mixture of old and new, sacred and profane, for example, the stack of televisions at the top of the large flight of stairs, advertising the vendors photographic prowess, which sits next to his snake and some kind of large lizard. and this next to a shrine with a monk, candles, offerings and ashes. in the end, though everything was actually steeped in worship.

we celebrated the season last night with the whole gang, with delicious indian food and a fair amount of booze, and today Laurence and Armando left and I got up very late, as my body was very tired. after finishing my book I went out and did some more looking and exploring and shopping and am being taken out again tonight to a bar with an incredible view, which is lovely, being looked after like this.

we have been looked after so well, and have had a fabulous time.

lets hope that Grace gets to play overseas again!
