Mon 07-04-08 - Sun 30-11-08In April/May this year I had an excellent time performing in a new comedy/musical television series for SBS called Bogan Pride, playing a wonderful character called Erin La Mont, the leader of a Christian girls' youth group. Bogan Pride is scheduled to screen on SBS in October/November this year. For more information see the website of the production company big and little films.
In the past week I had a guest role in the second series of Satisfaction, playing the hapless Roslyn, whose husband has been treating her very badly, which leads her into very unfamiliar territory...Satisfaction screens on Showtime, Foxtel, and the second series will screen over summer.
In October I will start rehearsing for Care Instructions, written by Cynthia Troup. It is about "A washer-woman of indecipherable age. Perhaps the thirteenth godmother from The Sleeping Beauty: the uninvited guest, by whose curse the princess was fated to fall asleep for a hundred years. Now she washes, waiting for her chance to ‘make another better wish’, when, finally, the royal child awakens. Care Instructions delves into rhyme and sing-song to consider the materials, size and cut of things. Whether as a lone voice or a chorus of knowing women, it speaks about remorse, self-forgiveness, love. A new collaboration; a poetic and choreographic exploration of character and myth through the polyphony of scripted language." On at the Courthouse Theatre in Carlton from the 19th to 29th of November, 2008
Other upcoming projects include The Flood, written by Jackie Smith, and The Carnival of Mysteries, a massive spectacular conceived by Moira Finucane and Jackie Smith, for which I have written a number of pieces that I'll perform.
